Magnum Cultural Foundation
Art galleryMagnum Foundation is a nonprofit photography foundation based in Manhattan, established in 2007 by photographers from the Magnum Photos collective, including board president Susan Meiselas, amid the decline of institutional support for photojournalism. Its mission is to expand creativity and diversity in documentary photography by supporting independent, long-form visual storytelling on social issues. Programs include the Magnum Foundation Fund and Fellowship, offering production grants, stipends, and mentorship to photographers and photojournalism students; the Arab Documentary Photography Program; the Inge Morath Award, given annually to a woman photographer under 30; and the Photography and Social Justice program, training early-career photographers through periodic labs at CUNY's Graduate School of Journalism.
