Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York is a hereditary and historical society, established in 1876 and incorporated in 1884, whose members descend from those who fought for American independence. Since 1883 it has worked to keep alive the memory of Revolutionary War patriots, marking anniversaries such as Washington's Birthday, the Battles of Lexington and Concord, and the British evacuation of New York, and maintaining historical markers across the city. Its central project is owning and operating the Fraunces Tavern Museum in Lower Manhattan, one of the city's oldest surviving structures, alongside genealogical programs, member events, and the digitization of historical records for public access.
