Textile Arts Center is a nonprofit textile-arts organization founded in 2009 and based in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn. It offers adult workshops in weaving, dyeing, embroidery, felting, knitting, marbling, and basket weaving alongside after-school classes, camps, and scholarships for New York City youth. The center runs an Artist-in-Residence program and a Work-in-Progress residency, provides open studio access and equipment rentals, and presents gallery exhibitions of members' and residents' work. It states it has taught more than 20,000 adult students, introduced textiles to roughly 30,000 NYC youth, graduated over 100 residency alumni, and distributed more than $300,000 in scholarships since founding.
