Wave Hill is a public garden and cultural center on a 28-acre estate in the Hudson Hill section of Riverdale, the Bronx, overlooking the Hudson River and the New Jersey Palisades. Built around an 1843 mansion later expanded by owners including publisher William Henry Appleton and financier George Walbridge Perkins, the estate was deeded to New York City in 1960 and established as a nonprofit in 1965. Alongside its horticultural gardens, Wave Hill presents contemporary visual art, mounting exhibitions in the Glyndor House gallery and hosting a multi-week winter workspace residency for artists each year, plus artist talks and performances tied to the site's landscape.
