YOSHII is a contemporary art gallery founded in 1990, located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Over more than three decades it has presented museum-caliber exhibitions of twentieth-century masters and contemporary artists, including Pablo Picasso, Alberto Giacometti, Henri Matisse, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Nobuyoshi Araki, Lee Ufan, and Eric Fischl, while introducing younger artists such as Makoto Ofune and Benny Safdie. A 1994 Giacometti exhibition was named the second-best gallery show in the United States by the International Association of Art Critics, and in 2005 the gallery presented architect Tadao Ando's personal drawings for the first time in a commercial setting. It has also organized cross-cultural exhibitions pairing Eastern and Western artists, including a 1999 show pairing Picasso and Hokusai.
