
Laura Alvarez
Mixed mediaLaura Alvarez is an illustrator, muralist, graphic designer, author, and educator, born in Valencia, Spain, who earned an MA in Fine Arts before settling in the Bronx in 2009. Her practice spans illustration, murals, step-street and public-art projects, and fine-art series such as Liquid Gold, Life in Pieces, and Woman Being, engaging themes of ecology, womanhood, race, tradition, inequality, and immigration through imagery drawn from street art, graffiti, and Romanesque art. She has partnered with brands including Target, Optimum, and Cricket Wireless, and with institutions such as the New York Botanical Garden, the Bronx Zoo, and NYU. Alvarez co-founded the nonprofit BxArts Factory, where she serves as vice president, sits on the board of ArtBridge, and published the children's book Eggie's Adventures at Poe Cottage in 2021.
