Ed. Varie
Art galleryEd. Varie is a gallery and independent bookstore in Manhattan's East Village, established in 2009 by artist and curator Karen Schaupeter. Conceived to bridge the gap between high-end Manhattan galleries and DIY artist-run spaces in Brooklyn, the gallery supports emerging and mid-career artists working across painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media, with a program described as conceptually ambitious and materially innovative. Alongside its exhibition program, Ed. Varie maintains a curated library and bookshop specializing in artist monographs, limited editions, and publications from independent and micro-press publishers. The gallery has presented recurring group exhibitions such as "Pot Shop," alongside solo shows and collaborative benefit exhibitions, featuring artists including Scout Curtin, Dini Dixon, Ted McGrath, and Maíra Senise.
